Shout out to the fabulous Pam

Today's Washington Post has an article on the "growing political influence" of Pamcoffeeshopjrolfefp lgbt bloggers.  And the featured example is – correctly – Pam Spaulding of Pam's House Blend. I remember when I first started reading gay blogs and came across Pam's — mostly I just couldn't believe that anyone could produce that incredible blog and also have a day job.  But she did, and she still does.

Of course, as the Post notes, she only gets about 8,000 unique visitors a day. Pathetic.  :>)

The article's broader focus is on the role lgbt blogs now play in both national and movement politics.  It describes how Pam's coverage of the Obama administration has reverberated in non-lgbt blogs and also how "the still relatively small gay political presence online is rebooting the gay rights movement in a decentralized, spontaneous, bottom-up way." If anything, I think that's an understatement. People are just beginning to grasp the political impact of independent voices such as Pam's.
